The problem: Cold sores
Angela advises: 'Planning a wedding can leave you stressed out and run down, which is the perfect breeding ground for the
normally dormant cold sore virus to flare up. As soon as you get that telltale tingle, apply an over-the-counter anti-viral
cream to the cold sore five times a day until it clears up. To avoid spreading the infection, wash your hands after touching the
infected area and also try to keep kissing to a minimum.'
Consider the following...
Try using a Compeed Cold Sore Patch. You can apply it under make-up and still look fab in your
wedding photos. Always read the label.
The problem: Period pains
Angela advises: 'You can't prevent period pains on your wedding day, but you can keep them under control. Gentle exercise such
as walking stimulates endorphin production, which can help your body deal with period pains more effectively. Avoid food high in
salt and caffeine as they can make you feel more irritable and bloated. On your wedding day take an ibuprofen or an aspirin to
treat the pain. Or if you only suffer from mild pains, then a hot water bottle, heat pad or bath will help.'
Consider the following...
The smell of lavender in the Jointace Deep Aromatherapy Patch helps to soothe cramps for up to 12
hours.
The problem: Asthma attacks
Angela advises: 'Emotionally stressful events such as weddings can make your asthma symptoms worse, so it's important not get
too stressed. Avoid dust and smoky areas, as these can increase your risk of an asthma attack. If you feel one coming on, use
your preventer inhaler to reduce inflammation in the lungs.'
Consider the following...
Calm pre-wedding stress with Bach Rescue Remedy. The combination of flower extracts helps to
restore inner calm. Always read the label.
The problem: Migraines
Angela advises: 'Stick to a healthy diet, drink plenty of fluids and get lots of sleep in the run up to your wedding, as all of
these reduce your risk of a migraine attack. Food high in tyramine, such as chocolate, cheese or alcohol, can make your migraine
worse. Take a soluble paracetamol at the first sign of an attack to numb the pain. If your migraine doesn't improve, contact
your GP after your honeymoon, who may be able to prescribe preventative medication.'
Consider the following...
Get quick relief with Imigran Recovery. Not only does it get rid of tension headaches, but it
also helps with nausea and light sensitivity.
The problem: IBS bloat
Angela advises: 'IBS is a collection of symptoms that includes constipation, diarrhoea, bloating and abdominal pain. Avoid
anything too salty, fatty or spicy and eat lots of fruit. Don't skip breakfast on your wedding day. On the day, eat a light
breakfast such as oats, as they're easy to digest. You could also try taking peppermint capsules or painkillers to help with any
stomach cramps.'
Consider the following...
Stop stomach spasms ruining your wedding by taking a Buscopan IBS Relief tablet first thing.
They're specially formulated to provide relief and relax your stomach muscles.
