Help! I used Blullini over my white bleached hair and it lasted two washes before going mint green! What do I do?
If you want to stay blue, just keep topping up the Blullini every other time you wash your hair. Try adding a drop of colour into your shampoo and conditioner to help maintain it.
If you don't like it anymore, the green is going to stick around for a bit but you can help to neutralize it to a lavender tone by using Rose over the top or going full pink with The Big Pink which should cover the green.
I used Awkward Peach over my white bleached hair and it's come out a very pink colour which I didn't want. How do I fix this?
Your hair probably didn't have enough warmth (golden tones) to it before putting the colour on. If it is very ashy then the warm tones won't show up. Try putting some Washed Out Orange over your hair to add some warmth and make it less pink.
My beautiful Bruised Violet hair has gone a bit blue-y since I washed it a few times. How do I get it back to a deep purple?
This kind of colour needs to be topped up every couple of weeks to stop the fade and build the colour up. It's the same with hair that's dyed red and fades to ginger - the undertones come through as the hair colour fades.
Try adding some to your shampoo and conditioner to keep it purple when it's washed and top up the colour when it starts to fade.
I have highlights in my hair - is it safe to use Total Bleach to go white blonde?
This depends on the strength of your hair and how much highlighting it has already had. If the highlights are very grown out and near the ends of your hair you should be ok to do it but might experience some damage to the tips. If so get a trim with your hairdresser to make it healthy again. You can try a test strand on the lightest piece of your hair and see how it reacts after 30mins. If it is very stretchy then it will not be safe. We do not recommend the use of Total Bleach over hair that is very damaged from heat styling or chemicals.
Total Bleach over highlighted hair will result in hair that has multi tones even after the use of White Toner because the natural hair will not go as white as the old highlighted hair.
I have very dark brown, undyed hair. Can I bleach it to silver white in one go?
Probably not. You might need to go a rich ginger colour first and then bleach again after 5 weeks once your roots come through to gradually go lighter. It might take 3 sessions using Total Bleach and White Toner over a period of 3-4 months. But it will be worth it and less damaging to the hair. Always use Reincarnation Mask to help keep your hair in good condition.
I have gingery light red hair. Can I bleach my hair?
Sometimes naturally red hair is very resilient and might not go a silver or white blonde. Warm, golden tones might tend to stick around so maybe embrace that and use the Washed Up Orange or Awkward Peach colours after bleaching. This will probably also suit your skin-tone better than an ashy or cool colour.
I have dyed my hair lots over the years - it's currently dark brown on the mid lengths and ends with my natural light colour coming through at the roots. Can I bleach my hair to white?
This sounds like a tricky in-salon colour correction and we would advise you to seek a professional consultation at Bleach London where a stylist will tell you the best thing to do. Unless you are confident enough to give this a go by stripping the old colour out of your hair first (avoiding the roots) with Total Bleach and then bleaching again from the roots down to the ends followed by White Toner. But it might not go white even after this! Make sure you follow the instructions carefully and don't keep it on for longer than is recommended. Colour corrections are very difficult and not recommended to do at home.
I have been dying my hair red for a while and now I want to go blonde. Can I bleach it?
Unless your red colour is a very faded ginger then you probably won't be able to go white blonde first time so settle for a ginger or golden blonde first before attempting again after 5 weeks when your roots are ready to bleached.
I want to use the DIY Dip Dye but my undyed hair is very dark - can I get it light blonde?
I have mousey brown/dark blonde undyed hair - will the DIY Dip Dye go light blonde?
It should go a nice light blonde so long as you follow the instructions fully and keep it on for the recommended time. Follow with White Toner to take out the yellow tones and make it ashier.
I have dark dyed hair - can I use the DIY Dip Dye to get blonde ends?
Your hair might go to a light ginger or dark copper depending on how dark the dye is. Try using it again after 3-4 weeks (and use the Reincarnation Mask) to get it a bit lighter on the tips. Try not to take it any higher than the original dip dye and you will get a lovely fade. Use the White Toner afterwards to help remove the warmth.
I bleached my hair to a lovely silver and my hair looked great for the first two weeks but then some yellow tones began to creep into my hair. How can I stop this from happening?
I've had some fun with the colours but now I want them to fade out. How can I speed this up?
Use Washing Out Liquid to help pull the colours out of your hair. If you lather it up into wet hair and keep it in for 15 mins at a time (try doing it every other time you wash your hair to speed up the fade) this will work really well. Please note that blue and green colours can be quite stubborn and stay in the hair for a very long time depending on the porosity your hair.
Blue Super Cool Colours (Out of the Blue, Blullini) have a green undertone so fade to green.
Purple Super Cool Colours (Bruised Violet, Parma Violets) have a blue undertone so will fade to blue and then green.
Green tones and green Super Cool Colours (Washed Up Mermaid, SeaPunk) will last the longest and may linger in the hair for some months - perfect if you want a long lasting colour.
Pink and Peach Super Cool Colours (Rose, The Big Pink, Awkward Peach, Washed Up Orange) are made from red and yellow tones so these fade out to warm blonde/yellow tones (or just back to white) and will not stay in the hair for very long.
Red and orange tones and Super Cool Colours (I Saw Red, Tangerine Dream) will fade to light orange or gingery tones.
The White Toner is what hairdressers' call a quasi-colour (low volume of hydrogen peroxide in the developer to open the cuticle layer of the hair and very light ash tones to deposit into the hair and neutralise yellow tones) designed to go over our Total Bleach or Dip Dye kits. We do not recommend this is used over highlights unless you are confident with your hair colour knowledge.
