Lisa has been developing her trade as a make-up artist for no less than 20 years and her signature look is fresh, flawless skin.

In 2003 Lisa became the Creative Director for Boots No7, using her 20 years of international experience to help develop, re-design and re-launch the brand.  Lisa is a highly regarded make up artist and her work frequently appears on the front covers of glossy magazines, advertising campaigns and catwalk shows for many top fashion houses, such as Chloe, Prada, Moschino and Ghost.
 
Highly professional, well respected and internationally recognised for her talent, Lisa has been based in Paris, New York and LA. She is currently a north London resident along with her husband, two sons and cat “Pea chop”.  She loves Italy and couldn’t live without dark chocolate.

1.What is your favourite ever beauty tip?

Less is more in terms of foundation - use less and your skin looks better.  So many people get a bit heavy handed with foundation as they use it to conceal flaws.  Too much can make you appear older and cloud the natural beauty of your skin, so it’s better to hide flaws with a good concealer and use a lighter foundation for a more natural finish.

Eyelash curlers, concealer and new No7 Extreme Length Mascara.


3. Describe your look 10 years ago

10 years ago I was coming to the end of a decade of travelling all the time for work. I was doing tons of shows and fashion shoots all around the world (sometimes taking up to 6 flights in a week!). I didn't really have any time for getting my hair done, putting make-up on or even shopping for clothes so my look was a lot less glamorous than it is now. Work was absolutely my number one priority. I fell pregnant exactly 10 years ago too, so you can imagine all in all it wasn't my most glamorous period! I've definitely upped the ante a lot since then.


4. What has been your career highlight so far?

I’ve been fortunate enough to have so many, so it’s difficult to say. One of them would be designing the make-up for the Prada perfume film. It was shot over a week in Berlin and directed by Jordan and Ridley Scott. It was great to be part of such a talented team, from the wardrobe designer to the cameraman, they were very inspiring individuals. Not necessarily a highlight, but at the start of my career I did Cindy Crawford’s make up for the Freddy Mercury Tribute concert at Wembley and got to stand on the side of the stage with her while Guns’n’Roses played!


5. What's in your make-up bag?

Chanel Pro Lumiere Foundation, Laura Mercier Concealer, Eye Lash Curlers, No7 Extreme Length Mascara, No7 lip liner in nude and Dior Eyeshadow in beige.


6. What is your favourite celebrity look/ which celeb do you think has the best make-up?

Madonna. Over the years she has consistently looked great, always changing her look.


7. If you weren't in the beauty industry, what would you be doing?

As a make up artist, I guess it's no surprise that I love painting and drawing, so I’d be living in Florence restoring Renaissance pictures.


8. What do you envisage being the 'next big thing' within beauty?

The technology which companies are developing to create new make up ranges is progressing at an astonishing rate. I am always amazed when I visit the factories where these products are being developed, as it’s almost like Willy Wonkas! The potential for make up is fantastic – second skin foundations, lipsticks with shine that won’t smudge or budge – anything could be possible.


9. What's the worst beauty myth you have ever heard and want to put straight?

Putting concealer on before foundation! Why spend all that time carefully putting on your concealer to then rub it all away with foundation – it makes much better sense to apply it afterwards.


10. What is your opinion on natural and organic products?

I think they’re great. It used to be the case that you had to choose between a product that performs well and organic one, but as technology has advanced the two are coming together and there are some brilliant products on the market that fuse the two.
