This Season's Nail Trends - S/S 09

From barely-there nudes to pretty pastel pinks, we've got spring nail trends covered!

Pack away winter's sultry, dark nail colours and give your nails a new season makeover. Revive your style with these new season nail updates - perfect for lighter, brighter, balmy spring days.

1) Try This Season's Pink Nail Shades

Spotted gracing the nails of every A-lister going this season (Jennifer Aniston, Leona Lewis and Kate Moss to name a few), spring-fresh blossom tones are hugely covetable. Freshen up your nail polish palette with feminine shades of dusky rose, creamy coral and soft, baby pink. And if pretty, girly pinks aren't quite your thing? Release your inner punk princess with bright flashes of fuchsia and raspberry.

2) Swap Your French Manicure For The 'New Nudes'

Modernise your look by swapping harsh white tips and go for a natural, nude nail, instead. "I am loving natural, buffed or matte nails at the moment," says Professional Nail Expert & Manicurist for Sally Hansen, Sophy Robson. Always use a base treatment such as Sally Hansen Hard as Nails in Natural, wait for it to dry fully, then apply a few coats of nail polish.

For a sheer sweep of light colour, we love Dior Le Vernis in Nude Chic or Sally Hansen Diamond Strength in Lavender Marquis.

3) Update Your Nail Shape

The on-trend nail shape this season? "For everyday wear, mid length oval-shaped or tapered nails are definitely more fashionable than square at the moment," says Sophy. Make sure nails are filed evenly and slightly round them at the edges for a natural shape. We like Ms Manicure's Stylfile, available in store, which is curved to make filing nails a doddle.

4) Lavish your Hands and Nails with TLC

Nothing breathes life into winter-weary hands like a good hand treatment. "Moisturise hands and take extra care rubbing your moisturising treatment into nail cuticles," says Pure's make-up artist Nathalie van Zee, who suggests gently pushing back your cuticles and buffing your nails to remove ridges.

For nourished, cared-for hands and nails, we love Burt's Bees Tips and Toes Kit and Trilogy Rose Hand Cream.
