Quick make up fixes for your Christmas party

If you're against the clock for that post-work party here's how to make a stress-free transformation from office chic to party sleek, no matter how little time you have. We show you how you can take your look from day to night in the time it takes to log off your computer...almost.

You have five minutes to spare

If you've only got a matter of minutes to get ready then it's important to get the basics sorted. It's amazing how a touch of concealer, a sweep of eyeliner and a slick of lip gloss can really revive your appearance.

Choose a concealer in a shade lighter than your foundation and apply under your eyes to hide dark circles and brighten the eye area.

Use white eyeliner in the inner rims of your eyes to disguise fatigue and bring out the whites of your eyes. Next apply black eyeliner to your lash line and smudge carefully to create a sophisticated evening look.

Finally, decorate lips with a touch of coloured lip gloss, finish with a spritz of your favourite perfume and you're good to go!

You have ten minutes to touch up

It's amazing what you can do in ten minutes if you really set your mind to it. For a fuss-free party look keep eyes minimal and spend time getting your lips just right.

Curl eyelashes and then add a coat of mascara on top of your current make up to really make lashes stand out.

Choose a statement shade of lippie and apply two coats (remembering to blot in between). Line lips with a lip pencil in a neutral shade first to keep your lip colour in place. Pick one with a built-in sharpener to avoid any emergencies!

For the finishing touch apply a lipstick sealer over the top of your lip colour to help make it last even longer.

You have half an hour to get glam

With half an hour you have just enough time to create a statement look with minimum fuss. Use the time to vamp up eyes and make the most of your features.

Take your time to create an on-trend smoky eye using an eyeshadow palette. This saves you having to carry around separate pots of eyeshadow and you can be sure that all the shades will work together.

Use a highlighter to pick out your best features. There's nothing more sophisticated than an accentuated cheekbone, brow bone or décolletage.

If there's time, use false eyelashes add a touch of instant glamour – try ones with gems on for extra wow-factor.

You have an hour to totally transform

With a full 60 minutes of spare time you can really dial up the glamour. While you still might not have time for a full makeover, you can transform your current look into one of sleek sophistication.

Feeling pale? Use a body moisturiser with a subtle shimmer on face, legs, arms and chest. If it's a more intense look you're after, carefully apply a wash-off tanning product instead.

Use liquid eyeliner to create gorgeous feline flicks on your upper eyelids. Try an intense black for a classic look or go daring with a bold shade.

Every savvy woman knows that the key to a great look starts and ends with a good manicure. If you don't have time to paint, fake it with a nice set of falsies.

Practice makes perfect! If you're panicking about the amount of time you have to get party-ready, take time to have a trial run beforehand to perfect your technique.
