How To Apply False Eyelashes

Having worked with some of the world’s most glamorous women, Max Factor make-up artist Caroline Barnes knows all there is to know about applying false eyelashes. Now you can master the look with her four steps to false lash success.


  1. Before applying a strip of lashes, measure the length of the lash against your lid. If it’s too long it will look very obvious and will have the effect of ‘closing’ your eye rather than opening it, so carefully trim it to the right length.

  2. Use the point of a pair of tweezers to apply the glue to the false lash. This will help you apply it in a precise way and ensure you don't load on too much.




  3. Close your eye and lay the lashes on top of your natural lashes, tight to the lash roots. Hold at each corner until dry. This will prevent the lash from drying straight across your eye and will help it follow the angle of your lid.

  4. Wait a minute before applying mascara to ensure the glue has dried. The mascara will help the lashes connect together for a more natural-looking result. Use a liquid liner like Max Factor Masterpiece Glide & Define eyeliner to blend the lash line into the lid for the perfect finish.
