Make up artist Daniel Sandler explains how to get the bold lip look in four easy steps.
Whether you go for pillar box red or deep wintery wine shades, the bold lip offers seasonless style and is a valuable addition to your beauty repertoire. Make up artist Daniel Sandler explains how to get the look.
1. Prep against bleeding
Apply a little base around your lip edge – this highlights the top lip, making it appear fuller. Then, dust loose powder to set and help prevent the lip colour bleeding.

2. Ensure a sophisticated finish
Apply your lipstick straight from the wand or apply using a lip brush for a sophisticated finish. Make sure your lipstick isn't too greasy or it won't last, but don't go for very matte textures either as these can make lips feel really dry. Instead, go for a satin-finish lipstick.
|
|
3. Use a lip pencil
If your lips are uneven, or you'd like them to appear fuller, line them using a matching lip pencil, softening the tip first by running it on the back of your hand. Always apply lip liner after your lipstick; it will look less obvious and will be easier to blend.
|
|
4. Soften if necessary
If you've finished and your lip line looks too severe, sweep a clean cotton bud around your lip edge to soften it.
