Doesn't work Bought these scissors and they are not suitable for hair cutting. It is almost impossible to cut. Thinning scissors jams and pulls hairs, not usable at all. Maybe suitable for paper cutting but not for hair and on the package it even doesn't mention hairs at all. March 4, 2012
Suitable for trainee hairdressers but not professionals. I'm a professional hairdresser so I can tell the difference between a good and bad pair of scissors. These scissors would never be used in a salon or by a mobile hairdresser because the blades jam into the hair. They aren't suitable for any professional hairdressing techniques (texturising/slicing etc), are not sharp enough and are awkward to hold. However, I would say they are suitable for those wanting to do something as simple as trimming they own fringe in between salon visits. They are better than using kitchen scissors. This product is the best option - in my opinion - for trainee hairdressers learning their techniques on the mannequin training heads. Although training heads use real hair - it's chemically treated and feels rougher than natural hair. So using expensive professional scissors might wear-down the blades more quickly and would waste money. These scissors are more suitable in that respect because they do a satisfactory job on the training heads and you can still master the techniques needed. When they wear down, you can discard them. This is why I have ticked the 'recommend' box. I would recommend them for trainee hairdressers but not for professionals. February 22, 2013
Better than expected I bought these as they were the only thinning scissors I could find on the high street, though they seemed ridiculously cheap which slightly put me off. I deliberated about using them as after researching thinning scissors in general, the message was not to use them as they ruin your hair. I've had my hair thinned at a salon when it was razor short but now I'm growing it out again, it's a nightmare as I have extremely thick and quite curly hair that just looks like a helmet most of the time and I'm fed up wearing hair bands/scarves etc. Hideous! Anyway, having the reached the point of despair and thinking it couldn't look any worse so I might as well give them a go, I'm really delighted. I've taken all the weight out of my hair without affecting the length at all, it sits closer to my head and falls properly, without looking like a helmet. I'd have paid more for a better quality version with a choice of width for the cutting teeth, but overall I'm very pleased and my hair looks relatively normal now! June 6, 2013
